Sophia was evaluated using the Preschool Language Scales Fifth Edition (PLS-5) English and the Clinical Assessment of Articulation and Phonology Second Edition (CAAP-2). Sophia was accompanied by her father to the initial evaluation while mother was on the phone during the evaluation. Sophia's parents stated that they were not concerned with Sophia's speech and language. They stated that Sophia's teacher made the recommendation that Sophia have her speech and language evaluated. According to parents, Sophia's teacher stated that Sophia is very quiet at school. The clinician noted that Sophia has an extensive vocabulary, however, her intelligibility is poor. The clinician estimated that Sophia is approximately 40 to 50% intelligible to an unfamiliar listener. |
