According to mother, Raul was born at full-term with no pregnancy or birthing complications. Mother and grandmother have stated that Raul does not use any words or word approximations, and has just began babbling, but is not consistent. According to the family, Raul will scream, yell, take/grab and/or lead his communication partner to express his communication wants/needs. Mother has reported that Raul easily frustrates, and recently began using self-abusive behaviors such as banging head on the nearest hard surface(s) when not understood or given the item(s) of desire. Mother will use soothing, raking strokes on Raul’s arms to calm his adverse behaviors as well as tantrums. Mother declared that Raul will be evaluated by an audiologist due to suspected hearing issues observed by his pediatrician. Due to the pediatrician’s concerns, mother is seeking an evaluation from a developmental specialist on March 3rd based on pediatrician’s suspicion of autism. Per parent report, Raul prefers to play alone, is often withdrawn, but mother encourages Raul to join mother and older brother during play-based activities. Parent is seeking an audiological evaluation per the recommendation of the pediatrician due to lack of awareness to sounds during the last wellness check-up. Raul will be evaluated by a developmental specialist per the recommendation of pediatrician due to suspicion of autism based on displayed autism characteristics.

His pediatrician did have some concerns and was showing early signs of autism . 4) he started crawling at 6 months Standing on his own 9 months He started walking at 18 months He's still not dressing him self I'm in the process of potty training right now . He still hasn't said any words yet just mumbles . 5) yes he sleeps 10 hours a night He just sleep with his mouth open but no snoring . And no no enlarged tonsils that I am aware of . 6) no he's been at home with me for the first 2 years of life i'm in the process of putting him in daycare right now 7) English 8) pediatrician did have some concerns in his hearing so I'm gonna see a specialist for that also 9) main concern that my son is not even saying any words at two years old only mumbles certain sounds . Things I'd like to improve within the year is starting by having my son learn and understand a couple of words , & also get a bit more education on speech for him and how I can help him improve on understanding sounds and words .

Raul presented with a severe to profound mixed receptive-expressive language delay, where his expressive language (profound) skills, is more severe than his receptive language (severe) skills. Raul would greatly benefit from speech therapy services that address the following: responding to his name, responding to "no" and "wait," following one step commands, relational play, imitating environmental/non-speech sounds, and imitating one to two syllable words. Once the office has processed the report, they obtain the needed signatures, and insurance approves the report, the assigned treating therapist will reach out to you to discuss beginning treatment.
