According to developmental norms, a typically developing child of Santiago’s age should have an expressive vocabulary of approximately 2000 words, produce utterances of 5-6 words in length, and be 100% intellegible to familiar and unfamiliar listeners. Santiago was re-evaluated using the Preschool Language Scales Fifth Edition (PLS-5) Spanish/Dual Language Assessment to assess his language skills and the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation, third edition (GFTA-3) to assess his articulation skills. LANGUAGE BACKGROUND: LANGUAGE INPUT: Santiago’s mother reported that Santiago is exposed to English and Spanish within his home environment. During the evaluation, Santiago was observed communicating primarily in English. 09-23-2025 10:24 PM	Santiago Espinoza	Santiago (Prim) Replied: 1. Santiago Javier Espinoza 03/17/2021. 2. Yes, he got stuck in my canal and it led to him getting a flat head on the right side. 3. No major illnesses, he does have ADHD. He does have seasonal allergies and is allergic to peanuts. 4. He walked very early at 8 months he was crawling at 6 he was sitting at 4 to 5 months he was feeding himself 7 months. Potty trained at 3 yrs old. Still needs help dressing correctly. 5. He sleeps well, rarely but at times wakes up. He sleeps with mouth closed. 6. He attends Prek4. This is his second school year. 7. He knows Spanish doesn't speak the language he does try if I ask him to. 8. No hearing issues. Last test was done in December 2023 and he passed it. Yes, he wears glasses. 9. He's been in speech therapy for 2 1/2 years, yes there has been improvement but he still needs a lot of work. His sentences and words are still not clear and more babble than anything. At times when we ask him a question he doesn't understand us.

Here is a summary of Santiago’s goals based on his performance in the language assessment, clinical observations, and the information you provided: Santiago presents with a MODERATE EXPRESSIVE LANGUAGE DISORDER. Therapy will address the use of correct subject-verb agreement when formulating sentences, using pronouns and possessive pronouns appropriately, answering questions logically, describing how an object is used, and completing analogies. As I previously mentioned, he qualifies for Speech therapy 1xwk for 45-60 minutes. Please let me know if you have any questions :)
