Feeding Assessment Summary: Mattias was re-evaluated today to determine continued eligibility of feeding intervention. Mattias is now 1 year, 9 months old. A clinical feeding and swallowing evaluation revealed that Mattias continues to present with PROFOUND feeding difficulties characterized by sensory food aversions. However, it has been observed that sensory aversions have reduced and are inconsistent. Mattias sometimes grimaces with foods and has begun to desensitize textures. No aversive behaviors were observed during the evaluation. He was presented with a chocolate chip cookie, non-preferred food. Patient remained seated on a high-chair during the evaluation. No food allergies were reported. Mother stated that Pediasure intake has been significantly reduced, and parents only offer it before bed sometimes. Mattias has demonstrated significant progress as he has increased his food inventory from no solids, water, whole milk, and Pediasure to 24 foods and 5 liquids. However, Mattias does not eat vegetables and is eating only 2 meats consistently. Mattias's diet is mainly composed of carbs and fruit repertoire is slowly increasing. Children between the ages of 1 and 3 years old are required to consume 1,000 to 1,400 daily calories to achieve adequate nutrition and are expected to consume 35 or more healthy foods across categories to gain the nutrients that are important for growth and development. Mattias demonstrated adequate labial seal and a rotary chewing pattern, adequate facial tone, and a closed lip posture. The PediEAT is intended to observe symptoms of problematic feeding in children. Results indicated that Mattias exhibits symptoms of HIGH CONCERN across all areas, except oral processing. The FaMM Feed is a family management questionnaire pertaining to child's feeding challenges. Parent exhibited CONCERNS across all areas. Member state before,­ during­, after feeding: No distress was noted before, during or after eating. Recommendations: Regular PO diet is recommended. As always, we at New Beginnings strive to keep our patients, parents, therapists, and staff safe and healthy. We have thermometers in our front lobbies and will be checking for high temperatures as we begin the traditional time of year for an increase in flu, colds, and COVID. Any child or parent with a temperature of 100 degrees and above will be asked to reschedule for another day & time.
If you or your child or someone in your home has COVID, we continue to ask that you stay home and quarantine to stop the spread. The CDC urges people sick with symptoms of respiratory viruses to stay home until their fever has disappeared for at least 24 hours without relying on fever-lowering medications.

Please do not come to therapy if you or your child are experiencing the following symptoms: fever, body aches, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Your treating therapist would be happy to reschedule your visit for you.

We wanted to take a moment to keep you informed about an issue that may affect your experience with us. Tricare is currently experiencing technical difficulties with their technology systems and initial and re-authorizations. As a result, there may be temporary delays in authorizations for your child’s therapy.

Please know that we are closely monitoring the situation and working with Tricare to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. They have stated a need of 4-8 weeks for their system issues to be resolved as their subcontractor insurance switched from Healthnet Federal Services to Triwest Alliance on 01/01/2025. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding during this time.

For children 10 years and younger, Texas Medicaid requires a Texas Health Steps check-up every year to keep therapy going.

Our licensed pediatric physical therapist, with close to 30 years of experience, is here to support your child’s movement, strength, balance, and coordination needs. All patients will need a new referral for PT from their pediatrician, and an initial evaluation by our PT.

As always, we at New Beginnings strive to keep our patients, parents, therapists, and staff safe and healthy. We have thermometers in our front lobbies and will be checking for high temperatures as we begin the traditional time of year for an increase in flu, colds, and COVID. Any child or parent with a temperature of 100 degrees and above will be asked to reschedule for another day & time.
If you or your child or someone in your home has COVID, we continue to ask that you stay home and quarantine to stop the spread. The CDC urges people sick with symptoms of respiratory viruses to stay home until their fever has disappeared for at least 24 hours without relying on fever-lowering medications.

Please do not come to therapy if you or your child are experiencing the following symptoms: fever, body aches, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Your treating therapist would be happy to reschedule your visit for you.

Still under El Paso Health. S they said that on July 1st, resubmit the authorization for more sessions, but for the month of June there's not much we can do.
