We have thermometers in our front lobbies and will be checking for high temperatures as we begin the traditional time of year for an increase in flu, colds, and COVID. Any child or parent with a temperature of 100 degrees and above will be asked to reschedule for another day & time. If you or your child or someone in your home has COVID, we continue to ask that you stay home and quarantine to stop the spread. The CDC urges people sick with symptoms of respiratory viruses to stay home until their fever has disappeared for at least 24 hours without relying on fever-lowering medications. Please do not come to therapy if you or your child are experiencing the following symptoms: fever, body aches, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Tricare is currently experiencing technical difficulties with their technology systems and initial and re-authorizations. Michael is diagnosed with a severe to profound mixed expressive-receptive language disorder where his receptive language (severe) is less severe than his expressive language (profound). He would benefit from speech therapy targeting the following: play skills, following routine directions with decreasing cues, sustained attention to tasks, imitation of gestures/actions, imitation of speech sounds, and use of total communication for a variety of pragmatic functions. Once the office has processed the report, obtain the needed signatures, and insurance approves the report, the treating clinician will reach out to you to schedule your first session. Once again, I need to remind you that we do not have afternoon spots (3 PM and later) open at this time. If you have any questions, please reach out. Thank you.

He struggled a little with transitioning between activities and cleaning up. With constant breaks and motivation, he finished all tasks. I also noticed that sometimes he gets frustrated when he is not able to accomplish something. Frequent prompts such as "Thank you for trying your best, should we try again?" significantly help reduce that frustration. At home, I encourage you to have him clean up toys once he is done playing and have him model one-to-two-syllable words. Regarding his expressive language, he is doing great! He is imitating a lot of words and sounds. I will see you next week, thank you! :)
