Speech Background History: Iaan is a 6-year, 10-month-old male who was referred for a speech and language evaluation due to parental concerns regarding language development and social communication skills. Mother reported concerns that Iaan may experience bullying or social isolation due to difficulty interacting with peers and engaging in age-appropriate conversations. Father reported that Iaan often has difficulty getting along with other children and tends to be excluded during social situations such as family gatherings. Mother indicated that Iaan attempts to socialize with peers; however, these attempts are often unsuccessful, resulting in limited peer interactions. Per parent report, pregnancy was notable for maternal depression; however, no complications during delivery or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stay were reported. Iaan has not been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at this time. Parents reported that he previously received speech-language services at another therapy facility.
