Feeding Background History: Malakai is a 2-year 9-month-old male referred by his pediatrician for a clinical feeding evaluation due to parent concerns regarding acceptance of new and/or non-preferred foods and textures resulting in a limited food variety. Malakai’s mother served as the informant for the evaluation. Malakai’s mother reported that feeding concerns began a year ago with concerns consisting of limited acceptance of foods. Malakai’s food repertoire currently consists of berries, French fries, rice, fideo, and sometimes nuggets per mother report. Additionally, Malakai’s mother reported that he will often chew briefly before swallowing. Malakai has no known food allergies and no history of respiratory issues.Malakai's mother reported that his pediatrician currently does not have concerns regarding nutrition or growth. Malakai’s mother reported that there are instances of constipation in which he takes kristalose as needed. Malakai’s feeding and swallowing skills were assessed through a clinical feeding evaluation and parent interview to determine his current level of function and need for skilled intervention.
Feeding Medical History: Malakai’s mother reported that she was induced 2 weeks prior to his due date due to low amniotic fluid and increased fetal heart rate. No NICU stay was required. Malakai’s mother reported no medical diagnosis, hospitalizations, or known medical or food allergies.
Feeding Medications: Malakai takes kristalose for constipation as needed.
