Mother reported that pregnancy and birth were unremarkable. Aurora was born at 38 weeks gestation via cesarean section with no reported complications. Developmentally, mother reported that Aurora has achieved gross motor milestones, including crawling and walking. Mother reported that Aurora attempts to use some repetitive vocalizations or phrases, such as “1…2” and “mamá”; however, she is not consistently using functional or meaningful words at this time. Aurora is primarily exposed to Spanish in the home environment, which mother reported is the primary language spoken with her. Aurora has some exposure to English through television and children’s programs; however, Spanish remains her dominant language. Aurora has an older brother and mother reported that she gets along well with other children. Mother’s primary concern at this time is Aurora’s limited expressive vocabulary and reduced use of functional words to communicate wants and needs.
