Thin liquids (water, juice) may continue via straw cup as tolerated. Avoid hard, crunchy, sticky, or mixed-texture foods at this time due to limited chewing skills. Due to a recent change in Tricare’s process, all patients are now required to be seen by their Primary Care Provider (PCP/PCM) and have an updated referral submitted to Tricare before we can request authorization for therapy. Please note: -The referral end date provided by your PCP/PCM will determine the authorization period for therapy services. -If possible, we recommend requesting a referral period of up to one year, as this will help reduce the number of required follow-up visits. -If you are unsure whether a current referral is on file, please contact your PCP/PCM or Tricare Referral Management directly. This change began earlier this month. While we are actively reviewing all existing referrals, we kindly ask for your assistance in scheduling an appointment with your PCP/PCM and ensuring an updated referral is submitted to help avoid any delays in therapy services. 02-18-2026 01:17 PM	Teresa Serna	I like to start with five non-preferred foods (2 protein, 1 starch, 1 fruit, 1 veggie) along with her preferred choice of liquid and a preferred food to work on her oral motor skills. These foods will be the same foods for a one-month span. To help Kelsey's sensory system, we will stick to a color scheme (any foods that are light in color so white or yellow). Here are some ideas: protein: yogurt, ham, chicken nuggets, turkey deli, cheese sticks, cheese, eggs. starch: rice crackers, rice cakes, veggie strips, pasta, noodles, bread, english muffin, veggies: yellow squash, corn, cucumber. fruits: yellow apples, pears, pineapple, dried mango/apple/pear. Let me know if you have any questions (: However, I have noticed that during the first sessions kiddos do take some time to adjust and tend not to eat during therapy so if you think that will be the case with Kelsey feel free to pick 2 non-preferred foods and 2 preferred foods (:
