Assessment of Goals/Response to Treatment: The client presented with significant distractibility and required frequent verbal and tactile cueing to maintain on-task behavior throughout the session. Despite these challenges with sustained attention, he was able to complete all therapeutic activities presented. Skilled interventions targeted motor, psychosocial, and cognitive integration skills through the use of puzzles, pegboards, and cooperative play activities, supported by a token system to reinforce task completion. Progress was noted toward social interaction goals, as the client independently initiated 0 consecutive turns during a cooperative play activity with maximal support. The client's tolerance for structured demands to utilize 'first/then' cues to complete non-preferred tasks in 0 out of 5 opportunities presented. Furthermore, he demonstrated fair coping skills and acceptance of therapeutic support with fair tolerance of hand-over-hand assistance without signs of distress in 2 out of 5 opportunities to facilitate correct grasp on pegs and puzzle pieces. This option will get your child's therapy started now, while you wait for in-person therapy. Our telehealth sessions are conducted securely via Zoom, allowing your child to receive high-quality, personalized OT from the comfort of your home. Once your child's in-person spot becomes available, you will have the option to come into the clinic for therapy or, if you prefer, continue with telehealth if your child is a good candidate. I have been up with Vince all night and we just got released from the ER he has allergies and an ear infection. I finally got the appropriate meds and he should be ok for tomorrow's session. This works because the back/side of the mouth triggers a swallow reflex, while medicine on the tongue often causes gagging or spitting. 2. The “Blow Reflex” Trick Right after giving the medicine: • Gently blow on the child’s face (toward the nose/mouth). Babies and many toddlers have a reflex that makes them automatically swallow when air hits their face. 3. The Side-Lying Hold (for toddlers who fight it) If a child thrashes or spits: 1. Sit them sideways on your lap. 2. Gently hold their arms with one arm. 3. Use the syringe to place medicine in the cheek pocket slowly.
