This is a general broadcast to all parents, do not text this number to reply.
As always, we at New Beginnings strive to keep our patients, parents, therapists, and staff safe and healthy. We have thermometers in our front lobbies and will be checking for high temperatures as we begin the traditional time of year for an increase in flu, colds, and COVID. Any child or parent with a temperature of 100 degrees and above will be asked to reschedule for another day & time.
If you or your child or someone in your home has COVID, we continue to ask that you stay home and quarantine to stop the spread. The CDC urges people sick with symptoms of respiratory viruses to stay home until their fever has disappeared for at least 24 hours without relying on fever-lowering medications.
Please do not come to therapy if you or your child are experiencing the following symptoms: fever, body aches, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Your treating therapist would be happy to reschedule your visit for you.
Please feel free to call our offices if you have any questions.

I wanted to follow up regarding the referral for speech therapy for Jaycob. I’ve already contacted your PCP via phone and email to request the referral along with the necessary diagnosis codes, but I have not received a response yet.
Unfortunately, if we do not receive the referral in time, we will need to cancel Jaycob’s scheduled appointment for this Saturday.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to give us a call at 915-855-0601.

This is Avery from New Beginnings. We’ve been trying to get in touch with your child’s pediatrician regarding the speech therapy referral. While we did receive the referral you provided, it is unfortunately missing the required diagnosis code for speech therapy.
We’ve made several attempts to contact the pediatrician's office, but we have not yet received the updated referral. Since this is the only missing piece needed for your child to be seen at our clinic, we kindly ask—if you're able—to reach out to the pediatrician directly to request that they include the appropriate diagnosis code.
We truly apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your willingness to help move things forward.

So when you have an opportunity can you answer these questions for me:
1.) Any complications with pregnancy or birth?
2.) major illnesses or accident since last check up? Any medical diagnoses (i.e., Autism, ADHD, down syndrome, etc.)?
3.) developmental milestones met within normal limits? or delayed?
4.) sleeping or breathing issues? does patient get 8-10 hrs sleep? wake up several times a night? snoring? sleep with mouth open or closed? enlarged tonsils?
5.) medications?
6.) education? (i.e., day care, preschool)
7.) vision or hearing issues?
8.) 8.) In your a few words write your parental concerns with SPEECH and LANGUAGE along with your child’s strengths.
9.) when did your concerns begin?
10) Any history of previous therapy (i.e., speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, etc.)

I apologize that our session ended abruptly when the time ran out. I just wanted to briefly follow up and restate what we were discussing.
My recommendation is that Jaycob be seen by his pediatrician to explore further evaluation. This can help determine whether his challenges may be related to attention concerns such as ADD/ADHD, delayed processing (including auditory processing), or a possible learning disability. Identifying the root cause is an important step so we can better support Jaycob, ease his frustration at school, and also help reduce the stress you may feel when working with him at home.
I also recommend requesting evaluation and testing through the school. This can help determine if he qualifies for additional academic support and services so he can receive the extra help he may need during the school day.
A comprehensive assessment from both medical and educational perspectives will give us clearer direction on how to best help him moving forward.
