Speech Background History: Ihsan Kocak is a 8-year 7-month-old male who was referred by his pediatrician for a comprehensive speech and language evaluation due to limited language skills. Ihsan’s father served as the informant for the evaluation. The evaluation was performed in English, as that is the primary language spoken at home. Ihsan’s father reported that his pregnancy and birth were unremarkable. He reported no complications and was born full term with no NICU stay. Father reported Ihsan started talking around 2 years of age however was not creating full length utterances. Father reported he was enrolled at harmony and started receiving services however reported minimal progress. Father reported main concerns with speech sounds and reported concerns with apraxia. The clinician reported that apraxia diagnosis would not be diagnosed at this time. Father was in agreement. During evaluation Ihsan was observed to participate throughout entire evaluation. Clinician recommend speaking to pediatrician regarding an ENT referral due to breathy voice. Father is really concerned with fluency as Ihsan has a difficult time expressing himself and voice is very breathy.
